Special care for special fabrics
We asked the experts at Persil to share their washing wisdom on some of the most common tricky topics…
Hand washing
Always check whether the item needs to be washed in cold or warm water before you plunge it into the sink. Liquid detergents dissolve more quickly than powder alternatives. If the clothes are heavily stained leave them to soak for a while, then wash the clothes for a minute or two, squeezing in the suds, before rinsing until the water runs clear.
Silk & wool
For very special garments that need a lighter touch try Persil Silk & Wool, which can be used in your machine on a gentle hand wash cycle, or dissolved in water for real hand washing. It doesn’t contain any enzymes, bleach or brightening agents, making it suitable for all your delicates – providing they’re not dry clean only of course!
Soft furnishings
If your cushion covers, curtains or carpets need freshening up, first of all check the care labels to ensure they’re machine washable. Use a detergent like Persil Colour Care, which is free from brightening and bleaching ingredients, to keep your colours at their best. And above all, remember to wash matching items the same number of times to keep them the same shade.
